Technical & Tufting Manager

What we're looking for? A leader with problem solving skills who enjoys working in a team environment! Reporting to the Director of Engineering/Maintenance, the incumbent works closely with the Tufting and Beaming Manager to ensure the maintenance and necessary mechanical modifications of a fleet of 25 machines and also to improve work methods in the sectors, for the benefit of health and safety, quality and costs.  


Skilled in communication, he manages and coordinates a team of about ten mechanics in the sector. His knowledge of mechanics allows him to implement the necessary preventive measures but also to assist his employees in solving mechanical problems that have an impact on both production and quality.  


With his colleagues in the engineering group, he participates in the deployment of the best maintenance practices for the company but also manages the implementation projects of new machinery in his sector.  


Structured, he organizes and documents the processes for which he is responsible, but also supports his collaborators in the research and deployment of the best work methods. Proactive, he/she ensures compliance with the plant's general rules as well as those related to health and safety. His political skills allow him to evolve easily in a unionized environment but also in an environment where changes are made at a rapid pace. 

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and enforce Beaulieu Canada's policies and procedures to its employees

  • Supervise the work of his/her team in the maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical problems in the warping, tufting and blade department (quality or efficiency)

  • Plan preventive maintenance work orders for the warping, tufting and blade department

  • Follow up and if necessary, discipline his team

  • Maintain and improve the preventive maintenance programs of the warping, tufting and blade department production equipment

  • Prepare parts requisitions for the purchasing department for the maintenance of equipment under his/her responsibility

  • Plan parts requirements for budgetary purposes

  • Follow up on maintenance supplies and parts expenses

  • Evaluate and standardize the work methods of the tufting department in order to improve quality and efficiency

  • Analyze production costs and standards, formulate and implement recommendations to maximize productivity and reduce costs

  • Participate in the improvement of work methods, design or improve work tools and equipment in collaboration with the managers of the ensoupling and tufting departments

  • Participate in the preparation of the CAPEX for the purchase of new equipment, in particular, establish specifications to maximize our resources but also to modify existing equipment according to the required volumes and the vulnerability situation

  • Direct the installation of new equipment

  • Participate in the progression of the knowledge of its employees and the follow-up of the training levels

  • Support health and safety activities, including risk analysis

  • Maintain close collaboration with suppliers of parts and equipment and keep abreast of technical improvements to equipment and parts

  • Produce and maintain tracking documents for parts and technical or general supplies required and ensure inventory control and stocking instructions for the warehouse

  • Perform all other related tasks

Qualifications

  • D.E.C. in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or equivalent degree or combination of experience and relevant training

  • 2 to 3 years experience in personnel management

  • 4 to 5 years experience in a unionized industrial environment

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Functional bilingualism (French-English), an asset

  • Very good organizational skills

  • Have a good sense of analysis, priorities and urgency

  • Be dynamic and enjoy working in a team
