What are we looking for? An individual with interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork abilities! Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent participates in the development and application of health and safety policies, programs and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for the development, management and maintenance of hazard and machine safety analyses. He/she is also responsible for the management of workplace accidents and the documentation or challenge of these accidents.  This position is based in Acton Vale.  

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the risk analysis and ensure its maintenance

  • Achieve Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) ISO objectives

  • Establish a strategic plan and achieve its health and safety objectives

  • Work with the Human Resources and Plant Directors to develop and implement health and safety programs, policies and procedures to meet the needs of the organization

  • Provide complete medico-administrative management of workers' compensation and occupational disease cases (first 14 days calculation, online ADR form, cost sharing requests, review at BEM, review, dispute, etc.)

  • Communicate with the Regional Manager, B.I.G. and any other entity

  • Conduct OHS procedure audits and plant tours

  • Research health and safety practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies

  • Provide, according to established rules and schedules, the necessary authorizations for employees to obtain their safety shoes, safety glasses or work clothes

  • Maintain and distribute statistical records

  • Perform all other related duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources / Industrial Relations

  • 3 to 5 years experience in a field related to occupational health and safety

  • Bilingual French-English essential

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Good interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to negotiate, influence and solve problems

  • Good analytical skills and ability to synthesize information in order to find appropriate solutions

  • Be results oriented

  • Ability to work under pressure and carry out several activities at the same time

  • Demonstrate aptitude for teamwork

  • Demonstrate dynamism, enthusiasm and discretion

  • Be well organized, autonomous and resourceful
